WELCOME to the Avert Center for Safer Schools website (Avert). Avert is:

1. A center for safer schools.
2. A resource strategy for schools to utilize in becoming safer, healthier environments for kids to succeed, through best use of mostly existing and some new resources.
3. A division of the nonprofit Minnesota Institute of Public Health.

Avert is managed by a group of experienced educational leaders, preventionists, health and safety specialists and research to practice professionals. Avert is driven by the science of best practice in prevention, guided by what our clients and constituents in schools and communities have identified as emerging needs, and committed to helping schools address those needs.
